Global private networking,
core networking at no charge.

Connect offices, cloud workloads and devices in minutes-without seat or device fees. WideWired prefers Direct and Peer Relay paths. Transport Optimization is on by default for new links; if they degrade, eligible traffic can switch to Cloud Relay. Disable or schedule it per link. Only Cloud Relay is metered.

Use Cases

One network, for distributed business systems.

Cross-border engineering

Connect development teams to GitLab, Kubernetes and cloud environments across mainland China, Hong Kong, Singapore and the United States.

Multi-site business

Connect headquarters, branches, stores and data centers without waiting for a circuit or deploying dedicated hardware at every software-only site.

Hybrid cloud connectivity

Bridge cloud VPCs with on-premises racks and offices, linking development, staging and production environments securely on demand through one private network.

Device fleets

Connect servers, NAS, point-of-sale systems, cameras and edge devices without per-device fees; use an optional CPE gateway for a whole segment.

Steps

From zero to connected, in three steps.

01

Create a network

Name it and pick a private CIDR; your account and first network are ready for devices.

02

Install the client

Copy the install command for Linux or Windows, or install the app from the App Store or Google Play.

03

Approve and connect

Approve the device to join the network, then review and manage its connectivity from the console.

Advantages

No seat or device fees, Transport Optimization under your control.

01

Core networking at no charge

Create networks, add devices, use encrypted Direct and Peer Relay connectivity, and manage it all from one console - with no per-user or per-device fee.

02

Transport Optimization under your control

New links enable Transport Optimization by default; turn it off or schedule it per link. Eligible traffic can switch from a degraded free path to metered Cloud Relay.

Where we differ
Typical approach
WideWired
Free-tier networking tools
Free plans can impose user, device, network or resource limits as deployments grow.
Core networking is not billed per user or device.
Per-seat networking tools
Team plans are commonly billed by user or managed resource.
No per-user or per-device fee for core networking.
WAN delivery model
Fixed-capacity deployments reserve bandwidth whether or not every path needs it.
By default, free paths and metered Cloud Relay balance cost and availability; enterprise designs can use dedicated all-private transport.
Mainland China connectivity
Some global overlays lack in-country infrastructure, while some local networks lack overseas reach.
Licensed mainland-China operation with overseas Cloud Relay coverage.

Under the hood

Path decisions, backed by evidence.

01

Path probing & automatic switching

WideWired continuously tests reachability and loss. Transport Optimization can switch traffic among verified Direct, Peer Relay and Cloud Relay paths when a healthier eligible path is available.

  • Direct path preferred
  • Continuous reachability & loss probes
  • Verified standby paths
  • Recorded switch reasons
02

WideWired-operated backbone

Cloud Relay carries eligible traffic on WideWired-operated infrastructure. Availability and pricing are determined per path, and only successful Cloud Relay egress is metered.

  • Multiple relay PoPs
  • Cloud Relay metered per GB
  • Path-specific availability
  • Prepaid usage control
03

Path evidence & control

The console shows current paths and quality evidence. RTT and loss are measured continuously, and path transitions retain their reasons.

  • Current path & relay health
  • RTT & packet loss
  • Recorded path transitions
  • Three sensitivity levels

Trust

Your network, your rules, with security you can verify.

01

Encrypted end to end

Traffic between devices is end-to-end encrypted; relays only forward packets they cannot read. Like shipping a locked box - you keep the only key.

02

Security by design

New devices require console approval. Approvals and network operations enter the audit log; path transitions retain a separate event history.

03

Licensed mainland-China operation

Our mainland-China operating entity holds an IP-VPN license, providing a licensed foundation for eligible cross-border enterprise links.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Is networking free?

Yes. Creating networks, adding devices, encrypted direct and Peer Relay connectivity, and the console are available at no charge, with no trial period and no per-user or per-device fee. Cloud Relay traffic used by Transport Optimization is metered.

Which traffic is billed?

Only Cloud Relay traffic used by Transport Optimization is billed. It is forwarded over the WideWired-operated backbone and metered per gigabyte (tax included): traffic within $0.07/GB, within $0.10/GB, ↔ $0.20/GB. Transport Optimization is enabled by default for new links; turn it off or set working hours per link at any time. You top up prepaid credit and get $2 at sign-up.

How is this different from Tailscale or ZeroTier?

Other products may focus on identity-based access or virtual device connectivity. WideWired focuses on site and device networking plus Transport Optimization, with no per-user or per-device fee for core networking. See the detailed comparison pages for a factual side-by-side.

Is this a VPN or a way around internet restrictions?

No. WideWired connects your own devices and sites to each other. We don’t provide a new public internet exit or resell proxy access - the value is making your own network reliable.

Which regions do you cover?

You can connect supported devices across the countries and regions listed under Coverage, including mainland China. Cloud Relay availability and rates are determined for each source/destination path; check the console or contact us for a specific corridor.

What happens when my credit runs out?

Credit exhaustion does not disable your account, networks or devices. New Cloud Relay egress pauses, while available direct and Peer Relay paths continue to work; top up any time to resume Cloud Relay.

Which platforms are supported?

The client runs on Linux and Windows, and as an app on macOS (App Store) - reaching servers, NAS, test rigs, edge devices and laptops through private addresses, with no exposed public ports.

Do I need to buy hardware?

No. The software client is available for Linux and Windows, with a macOS app. For devices that cannot run it - point-of-sale, cameras or industrial equipment - an optional CPE gateway can connect the whole segment.

How do I get started?

Create a network, run the one-line installer on your first devices, and approve them. Your sign-up credit lets you try Transport Optimization when you need it.
