# Traffic

> Select two linked devices to inspect their directional bandwidth, flow ranking and traffic details.

## Select the network and period

Select the network at the top of the console and open **Insights → Traffic**. Choose the period containing the activity to investigate. Use **Source site** and **Destination site** to select two devices connected by a link. Both must be selected before querying; the destination selector lists devices linked to the source. All charts, rankings and details concern that pair.

The two directions are separate. Check both when investigating a download, upload, or a device serving other devices.

## Locate the traffic

1. Read the bandwidth trend to find when activity increased.
2. Use the traffic ranking to identify the busiest flows between the selected devices. Entries distinguish source and destination IP, port and protocol.
3. Compare the two directions and inspect flow details. Select a chart interval to inspect a shorter period.
4. Compare that period with [Quality](https://www.widewired.com/page/docs/quality) if the workload became slow, or [Logs](https://www.widewired.com/page/docs/activity-log) if a configuration change may explain it.

The time shown on the page indicates the data available for the query. Traffic reports may arrive after the activity occurs.

## Check charges separately

Traffic includes network activity and does not by itself establish a charge. Only successfully forwarded Global Dedicated Transmission traffic is metered. Use **Account → Billing** for charged usage and amounts; see [Pricing](https://www.widewired.com/page/docs/billing-model).

## Quick troubleshooting

| Symptom | Check and action |
| --- | --- |
| No traffic appears | Confirm the network, approved online devices, filters and period; check the most recent flow time and expand the range when offered |
| One direction is empty | Check whether traffic actually flowed that way and whether Source site and Destination site are reversed |
| Traffic differs from billed usage | Compare the same network and period in Billing; direct and In-Network Device Forwarding traffic are free |
| A query fails repeatedly | Record the network, filters, period and occurrence time for [Getting support](https://www.widewired.com/page/docs/support) |
